COVID-19 Letter from the Mayor

Date: 06/29/2020

Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 public health emergency the Governor has ordered all Municipal Alliances to stop all programs and has frozen all funding for Alliance programs until October.

Further, due to the current restrictions in place it would be extremely difficult for us to have our traditional “Family Fun Nights” at the Birch and Surf Park. This is truly upsetting as this year marks 19 years that we have been having this event. Additionally, while the Beachwood Community Day is not solely an Alliance event it is a “health  themed” event and the majority of the presenters are health agencies or public agencies that are unable to commit to Community Day. Also, the children’s play areas are a huge part of Community Day and we don’t feel comfortable with trying to provide all of the bouncing and touch rides nor are we sure that it is a good idea at this time. So Community Day has also been canceled.

Unfortunately, these are just two more casualties of this public health emergency.

In place of the traditional programs Geralynn and Jean have decided to try and have bingo as this was one of the most popular games on Monday nights (Please see the Alliance Facebook Page for the full information on this event). If all goes well we will try to continue it weekly.

Our emergency services have always been a big part of Family Fun Nights and you are all welcome to continue to participate. However, it is understandable if you choose to forgo the bingo event.

We will not be offering any other games or programs on Monday nights at this time. Also due to the current constraints on food services we will not be opening the kitchen.

I want to thank everyone for your continued support and patience in these very trying times. We will get through it.

Sincerely,
Mayor Roma & The Beachwood Council
