FAQ's - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I GET A COPY OF A POLICE REPORT?
Police reports are obtained in two ways. You can either come to Police Headquarters between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. or request a copy through the mail. If you come into headquarters, the cost is fifty (.50) cents per page for an accident report or an investigation report. If requested through the mail, the cost is $5.00 for the first three pages and $1.00 for every page over three.

JUVENILES: The juvenile code allows information regarding the identity of a juvenile, the offense charged, the adjudication and disposition to be given to a victim or a member of the victim's immediately family at the time the complaint is filed or later. Therefore, an officer who files a delinquency complaint should immediately advise the victim or a member of the victim's immediate family of the juvenile's name and the offense charged. Additional information about the juvenile (residence or school, etc.) should not be given to the victim. Copies of complaints, reports and statements should not be provided to victims or their families. The prosecutor's office provides reports as discovery to the juvenile's attorney and may require court orders for other requests, such as those from insurance companies or attorneys filing lawsuits. Pursuant to Executive Directive 123, police reports are not public records.

WHEN CAN I GET MY FINGERPRINTS TAKEN?
Fingerprints are done for residents of Beachwood on Mondays and Wednesdays between 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. There is no charge for this service.

WHERE DO I PAY FOR A SUMMONS?
You can pay for a motor vehicle summons at the Beachwood Municipal Court, which is located at 1600 Pinewald Road, Beachwood. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

WHERE AND WHEN IS THE MUNICIPAL COURT HELD?
Court sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:00 P.M. and the 2nd Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. The court is located at 1600 Pinewald Road, Beachwood, NJ. Park in the back parking lot.

HOW DO I OBTAIN A HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMIT?
Temporary Handicapped Parking Permits are obtained by going to the Police Department. You will be given an application which is filled out on one side by the applicant and the other side by the doctor. The application is then returned to the department with a $4.00 check made out to the Division of Motor Vehicle. Once the application is approved by the Chief of Police, it is good for a period of six months and can be renewed once with a note from the doctor.

Permanent Handicapped Parking Permits or License Plates are obtained through the Division of Motor Vehicles.

HOW CAN I OBTAIN A BEACHWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT PATCH FOR MY PATCH COLLECTION?
Regretfully, the Beachwood Police Department cannot respond to the number of patch requests that it gets. Therefore, it is the policy of the department not to provide patches to any collectors.
